Taylor Swift's ex Joe Alwyn embraces co-star amid Eras Tour (2024)

Joe Alwynwas busy on the set of Hamnet in Hertfordshire on Friday, while his ex Taylor Swift took over his home city of London with back-to-back sell out shows at Wembley.

The actor, 33, who was raised in North London and famously dated the singer between 2016 and 2023, was wore a traditional costume while filming scenes for theShakespearean drama.

He was dressed in a suede Elizabethan jacket and trousers along with knee-high boots while also sporting some stubble

Meanwhile Jessie, 34, wore a long orange and red dress with her brunette tresses loose tumbling down her back.

Joe's character is currently unknown while Jessie playsWilliam Shakespeare's wife Agnes alongside Paul Mescal, 28, as the famous playwrightin a big-screen version of Maggie O'Farrell's novel.

In the outdoors scenes the duo lovingly embraced with the actress wrapping her arms around Joe's neck.

It comes just a day after Jessie was seen filming more passionate scenes with Paul as they kissed alongside their onscreen children on the same outdoor set.

The new drama, which is set to be released in 2025, will explore Shakespeare's wife struggling to come to terms with the loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet to the plague.

The New York Times bestselling historical fiction novel charts the emotional, familial and artistic consequences of that loss, bringing to life a human and heart-stopping story.

Alwyn reportedly addressed the speculation in order to 'move forward,' after Swift appeared to make several scathing digs about him on The Tortured Poets Department, which she released in April.

'Joe wanted to get this over with once and for all so he can move forward with his life and his career,' an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

'He never wanted to say anythingand was hoping it would all blow over, but it hasn't. Taylor has made a fortune off their breakup by forming an entire album around it. Meanwhile he has been cast as "Taylor's ex."'

The insider claimed Alwyn initially wanted to avoid publicly discussing their relationship, but the persistent interest became too much to ignore – especially when he is on the promotional tour for his new film, Kinds of Kindness.

'He cannot go anywhere without being asked about Taylor,' they said. 'He had his people tell everyone in advance that he was not going to answer questions about Taylor, but he knew that is all people wanted to ask him about.

'It became depressing and emotionally draining.

'Their romance was private – quite the opposite of her relationship with Travis [Kelce]. It was partly due to covid restrictions, but they also preferred it that way.

'Joe has moved on and is doing promotional work for his films and upcoming projects, so he decided he needed to get this out to move forward. He wants to be asked about his films, not about Taylor.'

The insider said Alwyn has no 'ill will' for the singer, who he dated from 2017 until early 2023, but would like her to understand how hurtful her lyrics can be.

'He wishes her no ill will, but he also needed her to know that appearing to address their relationship without confirming who she is singing about can have a lasting and hurtful effect on the people/ men involved,' they said.

'He does not want to discuss this anymore, but he knew that if he didn't say anything, it would go on indefinitely. Swifties never let anything die.'

Swift seemingly bared her soul about their split on her latest album, with fans convinced stinging lyrics about a manshattering her dreams of marriage and children are a direct reference to Alwyn – although she has never confirmed.

It comes afterTaylorfans went wild as Ed Sheeranmade a surprise appearance on stage during the gig.

The pair, who are long-term friends and co-collaborators, were greeted by screams and huge cheers from the London crowd.

During her surprise song set, which Taylor changes each gig, the singer-songwriters' performed their song Everything has Changed from the 2012 album Red, followed by End Game from Reputation.

The duo then sang an emotional acoustic rendition of Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud while bright green lights shone out from the stadium.

Before he left the stage, she showered him with compliments and while hugging him described him as a 'second brother'.

She said: 'Now he is someone that plays Wembley like every week. This is regular for him and he works so hard. He's probably so tired but he wanted to come play for you and do this for all of you.'
